Jonathan Pierson Obituary

Jonathan "John" R. Pierson, 78, of Canton passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 31, 2021 after an extended illness. He was born March 23, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to his parents, the late, Clarence and Bertha (Wamsley) Pierson and was raised in Mill Creek, West Virginia. He retired after 35 years working for Republic Steel. He enjoyed golf, bowling, baseball, camping, traveling and any outdoor activities. He loved going to his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with family and the love of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn S. (Moore) Pierson; children, Karma (Brian) Ickes; Darrell Pierson (and his fiance, Christy Donnelly), Karla (Mark) Lamp; grandsons, Kole and Justin Ickes; granddaughter, Hannah Pierson; step grandchildren, Jeffrey McKendrick and Sarah Donaldson; sister, Dorothy (Rev. Carroll) McCauley; brother, Larry (Charlotte) Pierson all of West Virginia; half sister, Betty King of Massillon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A private memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 3pm. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm. Observing social distancing protocol is expected and appreciated.
