Obituary

Beverly Louise Sharp (Robinson), born August 11, 1937, passed away September 15, 2020. Struggling through the last several years with advanced dementia, she passed away after sustaining an injury resulting from a fall at her nursing home. She was fortunate to have lived in her long time family home until four days before her death.

Bev grew up on a dairy farm in Urichsville, Ohio and is preceded in death by fifteen of her eighteen siblings. She lived most of her life in Canton, attended Timken High School and worked at Cornell’s Dairy at the Arcade Market in downtown Canton when she met and married Dency “Bob” Sharp in 1957.

Beverly was the “quintessential 1950’s housewife,” always cooking, baking, canning, and cleaning. Nothing was ever out of a can, everything was made from scratch with love. The house always smelled of fresh baked bread, pumpkin pies and pot roast, and she is famous for “Grandma’s noodles.” Her favorite flower were lilacs, her favorite scent was simmering cloves and her favorite food was butter pecan ice cream. She also turned her passion for cooking into a career working as a wedding caterer and a cook at the well-known Heggys Nut Shop in Canton. She did not cook much after her dementia set in, but the memories of her cooking up some love in her kitchen will live on with us forever.

Bev is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dency “Bob” Sharp of Canton; her loving children, Tammy Harhager (David), Jeff Sharp (Jennifer), and Kimberly Jacobs (Eric); and her wonderful grandchildren, Michelle Getz (Chris), Michael Harhager (Cassie), Shelby Hisey (Sam), Ryan Sharp, Jacob Sharp, Matthew Jacobs, Matthew Harhager (Jamie); her great grandchildren Ashton Getz and Lily Hisey. She is also survived by her loving sisters Ginny Morrell and Shirley Barth.
Special thanks to the ER physicians and nurses (Erin) at Aultman Hospital and Aultman Woodlawn Rehab Center. You were all the most kind and gracious caregivers that we have encountered during her long battle with dementia.

Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, 5001 Everhard Road in Canton. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Friends of the Stark County Pound. Beverly loved animals and especially dogs. They brought her so much joy during her life.
