Obituary

Jeana Earley Stanley was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 25, 1965 to loving parents Ronald and Betty Earley. She passed away after an unexpected health issue on June 26.

She graduated Chardon High School in 1983. Her lifetime of over achievement began with a school career that included honor roll, school newspaper, band, school plays, basketball, volleyball and track.

After graduating from the University of Toledo in 1987, her career started as a CPA in Cleveland at Ernst & Young, then WUAB in Cleveland, WCPX in Orlando and WKYC in Cleveland. She started working for Hearst in 2004 at WBAL-TV in Baltimore. She joined the Hearst TV corporate staff in New York in 2007 and become part of the Hearst corporate finance team in August of 2018.

She married Tim Knighton in 1992 and from that union two children, Tyler and Hannah Knighton were born. She vigorously supported her children’s pursuits. Tyler graduated from University of South Florida with a degree in environmental policy and Hannah graduated from Jacksonville University with degrees in marine biology and English. She is completing a Master of Arts in Science Writing.

Jeana’s life was much more than her resume. She was a person full of passion, always the life of any party, the leader of any project and a friend of everyone who crossed her path. Nobody can plan events like family reunions, trips or social occasions and execute them flawlessly like Jeana.

In 2003 she married her present husband Randal Stanley, adding stepdaughters Rachel Williams and Sarah Stanley to the family. He was her travel partner, booster and best friend. Well, best friends except for her cousin Darlene Tucker, Terry Moir, Carol Hetman, Kim Kerr and the rest of her Strongsville volleyball team. Randal accepted this arrangement without complaint.

She was proceeded in death by her father Ronald and brother Ronald “Skipper.”

She is survived by her mother, husband, children, stepchildren, brother James Earley and his wife Roslyn and many aunts, cousins and friends.

Jeana lived her life like there may not be a tomorrow, I think you join us in describing her as the rock and energetic force for so much good in this world. The family would like to express our thanks to the entirety of our family and friends and the staff of Reed Funeral Home for the overwhelming love and support in this difficult time.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW North Canton, Ohio 44720 from 1pm to 3pm with social distancing guidelines in place. Funeral services will follow at 3pm.

Jeana Stanley, Hearst vice president of finance, died June 26 in Tierra Verde, Florida. She was 54.

Stanley joined Hearst’s corporate finance team as vice president in August 2018, where she was responsible for overseeing internal audit and employee benefit functions.

“Jeana was a unique, dynamic executive, having gained operational finance experience at the local television station level, and applied that across our broadcasting business and ultimately for the corporation,” said Hearst President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Swartz. “She was always engaging, on the cusp of new trends and ready to implement them.”

“Jeana was a trusted partner and key driver in our efforts to evaluate opportunities and look for new ways to augment the services and corporate finance capabilities we offer to our 360-plus businesses,” said Mitchell Scherzer, Hearst executive vice president and chief financial officer. “We extend our condolences to her family. Our colleagues at Hearst will miss her.”

She has left a lasting legacy for future leaders throughout our company.”
