Evelyn grew up on her family farm outside of Welshfield, Ohio. She displayed her musical talents by singing with her sisters, known as the Mumaw Girls. She also played the clarinet in the Geauga All County Band. Later, Evelyn attended the Dana School of Music, Youngstown, Ohio majoring in piano and oboe. During WWII, she served in the Navy from 1943-1945, as a Pharmacist's Mate, Third Class at both Bainbridge and Bethesda Naval Hospitals in Maryland. After the war, she spent most of her adult life in Alliance, Ohio, as a homemaker, mother, and caregiver. Evelyn surrendered her life to Christ in 1959. From that point on, she actively served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That same faith was reflected in her love for the land as expressed in her love for gardening and of God's creation. She relished her times at the piano playing and singing. She devoted her time to Bible study. Her copious notes evidenced her passion for God's word. She was a prayer warrior. Her faith has influenced every member of her extended family. "All she hath needed her Lord hath provided, Great is thy Faithfulness, oh God, our Father."
The family would like to publicly thank the staff of St. Luke's for the loving care of their mother and for the compassionate end-care provided by Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice.
