Lewis A. Sagermann, 85, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019. He was born in Lakewood, OH on July 17, 1933 to the late August and Nettie Maurer Sagermann. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1951 as Valedictorian. Lew was a journeyman printer in the commercial field for 10 years, then was employed with the Canton Repository for 42 years, retiring as Graphics Editor. He received many awards as editor.
He loved sports and played baseball, softball, fumbleball and basketball on many championship teams. In 1986, he was elected to the Fumbleball Hall of Fame. Lew also enjoyed golf and bowling and was a fan of the Indians, Browns Cavs and Ohio State. He was a man of character, morals and kindness.
Lew is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sherry; children, Mark (Laura) Sagermann of Atlanta, GA and Tamara Wiseman of Canton; grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Tayler and Zachary.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11am at the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11am on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
