Richard H. "Dick" Hoffman, 91, passed away November 6, 2018. He was born on September 19, 1927 the son of Elmer & Mary Ellen (Fair) Hoffman. Dick was a member of 1st Christian Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and served honorably in the Pacific Theater. He received his Bachelors Degree from Miami University of Ohio and his Masters Degree from the University of Akron. Dick began his career of teaching and coaching football at Greensburg High School. He then went to Alliance High School where he coached football and track. Dick retired from Timken High School with a total career of 35 years. He also served as the president of the Board for the Canton Schools Employees Federal Credit Union. Dick was a member of Conrad Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma Jean; son Michael; and brother Jack.
Dick is survived by his loving family, sons Richard (Laurie) Hoffman II and James (friend, Terry Corzine) Hoffman; grandchildren Jared (Genevieve) Hoffman and Rachel (Steven) Robison; and great-grandchildren Claire Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, and Joanna Robison.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at the Reed Funeral Home (NORTH CANTON CHAPEL) 801 Pittsburg Ave NW. N. Canton, where services will be held at 12:00PM with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
Inurnment will be held at Greentown Cemetery at a later date.
