Joe S. Tayse, Jr., 51, of Perry Township, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 due to complications from a Stem Cell Transplant. He was born on June 23, 1967 in Canton to Joe and Judith Tayse and was a 1985 graduate of Perry High School. He was a 23 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Canton Local #94 and worked for R.T. Hampton as a journeyman plumber.
Joe enjoyed fishing and coaching sports. He started coaching football at Tuslaw High School in 1988 then moved back home to Perry. He spent 25 years coaching athletes from grade school to high school in football, wrestling, track and field, baseball and softball. He loved telling stories of all the athletes he coached including his own two children. His proudest moment as a coach and father was watching both his children become state champions for Perry.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Joe S. Tayse Sr; his grandparents Willie Joe Tayse, Mervil Rajewski, William and Alice Meola.
He leaves behind his wife of 30 years Melissa A. (Hollinger) Tayse; daughter Maria S. Tayse; son Joe "JoJo" S. Tayse III; mother Judith P. Tayse; sisters, Tina (Randy) Detchon and Toni (Matt) Laubacher; his best buddy, grandson David A. Kemp; nieces Samantha, Erin, Jessica Laubacher and Sydnee Detchon and his nephew Randy Detchon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Perry Adult Booster Club, Attn: Pat Murray at Perry High School, for five memorial student athlete scholarships.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5pm and Monday from 10-11am at the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:30am at Calvary Cemetery. Following services, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Shady Hollow Country Club.
