William Joel Tice II of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on the morning of August 7, 2018. He was fifty-three years old. Joel was born on May 30, 1965 in Canton, Ohio to Donna Jean and William Tice. He grew up in Canton, Ohio, where he developed a love for reading, music, and playing chess. He attended Plain Local Schools before joining the United States Army in 1988. After his discharge from the US Army, Joel worked in communications construction across the country and in the Canton-Massillon area. Friends remember Joel as a generous soul who was quick to help a friend in need. Family remember his loyal, loving, and gentle spirit: he enjoyed his garden, walks in the woods with his dog, and playing games, especially chess, with his niece and nephews. He was a fan of classic rock, loved a good joke, and had a smile for everyone. Joel is survived by his mother Donna York; stepfather Terry York; sister and brother-in-law Jade and John Hargrave; brother and sister-in-law Christopher and Liz Myers; stepsister and brother-in-law Kyla and Darrin Johnson; nieces Kristen, Emily, Megan; nephews Isaac, Luke, Shade, Isaiah, Cole. He is preceded in death by his father William Tice and stepbrother Terry York Jr. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday August 11, 2018 at Reed Funeral Home CANTON CHAPEL with John Hargrave officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
