Violet D. Shulty, age 85, of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday February 13, 2008 in Rose Lane Health Center. She was born in New Brighton, PA on April 3, 1922 to the late Earl and Mae (Straton) Umlauf and lived the greater portion of her life in the North Canton area. She was a former employee of Halter Pretzel Co. and Frito Lay. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing bingo. She will always be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Shulty Sr. in 1985; a son Charles Shulty Jr. in 1956; a sister Dorothy Mae Terrett; and two brothers Earl C. Umlauf and John Umlauf. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and David Schambs of Massillon; sister Vivian Swartzentruber of Louisville, OH; a brother Winfield S. Umlauf of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren Dean Schambs of Columbus, OH, Tamie Seifert of Massillon and Todd Schambs of Cranberry, PA; five great grandchildren Michael, Michele and Brian Schambs and Dow and Chase Seifert; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 1pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Tom Fryman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
