Obituary

Ronald E. ''Ron'' Kaylor age 82 of Canton, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002 in Manor Health Care Center after a lengthy illness, During his life he was blessed with many friends and loving family members who will miss him every day of their lives. Born on December 1, 1919 in Glenmont, OH to the late, Elmer J. and Della Kaylor, Ron was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Perry Heights, Lodge #546 F&AM and the Springwood Property Owners Association, an association he was instrumental in developing back in the early 70's. Ron was a pilot in the US Air Force flying B-17's and B-29's. He was also a fight instructor in BT-13's and a veteran of WW II. After being honorably discharged as a first lieutenant in l945 he retured to Danville, OH to begin his public school teaching and coaching career. In August, 1953, Ron and his wife, Sally, and their children moved to Canton where he accepted a teaching and coaching position at Timken High School. At Timken, Ron was a longtime assistant football coach under Dan Risaliti and the head track coach until 1963 when he moved to Lehman High School. At Lehman he taught physical education, was an assistant football coach, the head track coach and started the boys and girls gymnastics program. In 1977, Ron moved to the new combined McKinley High School when Lehman became a Junior High School. He retired from the Canton City School system in 1979.
Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally, and six children, Ronald Kaylor, D.D.S. of Mammoth Lakes, CA, William Kaylor of Dallas, TX, Jeffrey Kaylor, C.P.A. of Costa Mesa, CA, Melissa Rayloe of Lakeside, CA, Douglas Kaylor D.D.S. of Needles, CA and Susan Fritz of Navarre, OH. Ron is also survived by 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Mavis of Danville, OH and Mildred Hunter of Mt. Vernon, OH and several neices and ndphews.
Funeral services will be held in the Reed Funeral Home at 11 am on Monday, May 13th with Ron's nephew, Richard K. Mavis officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Gardens in Sunset Hills Burial Park immediately following the service. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Monday from 10-11 a.m. Masonic services will be conducted by McKinley Lodge # 431 F&AM on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
