Robert M. Cassidy Sr., age 78 of Canton, passed away suddenly, on Saturday May 6, 2006. He was born in Champaign, IL., to the late Audie Frank and Margaret Ann Cassidy. He retired from Republic Steel in 1970, following 14 years of faithful service. Bob was the owner/operator of Cassidy's Lawn Mower Shop, and loved working in his yard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a great sense of humor. He was a member of the Mason's and the Steel Worker's Union. Bob will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew Earl Cassidy Jr. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Clara Cassidy; seven children Robert (Maxine) Cassidy Jr., Audie Frank (Diane) Cassidy and children Tonya and Shonna, Bonnie Lou (Robert) Wright and children Tim, Tiffany and Nichole, Michael Stephen Cassidy and children Steven and Justin, Terry Lee Cassidy and children Candy and Terry Jr., Clara Ann (Butch) Port and daughter Jamie, and Ronald Edward Cassidy; two brothers Vernon (Virgie) Cassidy and Earl (Mary) Cassidy; sister Sally Stevens; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with the Rev. John Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
