John Lloyd Finnicum age 86 of Canton, Ohio passed away Monday evening in the Altercare of Canton following an extended illness. Born in Canton on August 1, 1915 he was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of Canton Malleable Iron, retiring in 1972 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Canton Second Wesleyan Methodist Church and had served as the Sunday School Treasurer for the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cynthia Finnicum, a sister, Edna Ruth Finnicum and his wife, Dorothy I. Finnicum who passed away October 17, 1994.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Kimball of West Hartford, CT., Velma and Kerry King of Fairview Park, OH., Joan and Charles Cordes of Canton and Nancy and Robert Yackey of Canton. His sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Donald Hilliard of Richmond, OH. and his brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Joseph and Rev. Alberta Finnicum of Tallmadge, OH. Five grandchildren and their spouses; Michele and David Schlapfer, Barry and Pam Kimball, Aaron and Michele King, Andrew King and Charles and Amy Cordes. One great grandson, Jacob Schlapfer.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Canton Second Wesleyan Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the services at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
