Jack H. Reifsnyder, age 79, of Canton, died of cancer Tuesday evening in Aultman Hospital. He was born on Feb. 20, 1925 in Canton to the late John and Matilda (Dornecker) Reifsnyder. He was graduated in 1943 from Canton Timken High School and served with the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for 34 years as a heat treat hardener for the Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1983. He attended Lowell United Church of Christ and was a member of American Legion Post 44, VFW, Canton Eagles Lodge #2370, North Canton Eagles Lodge and Ford Local Retiree's Club #542. Mr. Reifsnyder was preceded in death by his brothers, Gladford, Wilbur, Ralph and Donald Reifsnyder and sisters, Thelma Whitmer and Glenda Rose. He is survived by his wife, Claudell (Messer) Reifsnyder, to whom he was married for 58 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Jane Reifsnyder of Bolivar; daughter, Jackie Cruse of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Ashlie (Brad) Hatton, Jamie Beth Cruse, Zachary (Ruth) Reifsnyder and Abigail Reifsnyder and her friend, A. J. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Jackson Hatton (Jack's namesake) and Blake Elizabeth Hatton; his special friend, Dick (Helen) Levy, numerous nieces and nephews and Bear, his beloved pet cat. Mr. Reifsnyder requested a private service and burial. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Stark County Humane Society. Arrangements by the Reed Funeral Home.
