Florence P. (Finzer) Smith, age 86 of Canton, died Wednesday evening at the Country Lawn Nursing Home, Navarre, following a brief illness. She was born on March 19, 1918 in Canton and was graduated in 1935 from McKinley High School. She was a member of the first graduating class of the former Canton School of Nursing. Mrs. Smith worked as an assembler for the Hoover Company during World War II and then was employed as a case worker for the Hospital Bureau of the United Way. She was a member of the 38th Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry T. Finzer, in 1962 and her second husband, Harry E. Smith, in 1994. She was also preceded by her parents, Pasquale and Pasqualina DeCresce, brothers, Albert DeCresce, Lawrence DeCresce and sisters, Ann Joseph, Caroline Newhouse, Mildred Bialota, stepdaughter, Mary Lou Cole and great-grandson, Corey Finzer. Mrs. Smith is survived be her son, Don (Bonnie) Finzer of Canton; stepdaughters, Nancy Krebs of Monroeville, OH, Helen (Russell) Edwards of Galena, OH; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister Lance Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday (TONIGHT) from 6 - 9 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to the time of services.
