Delores Wilma Simms, age 75, of Canton passed away Thursday evening after a brief illness at the Doctors Hospital. Born in Akron, Ohio, on April 19, 1926 to the late Price and Edna (Hogue) Lawler. She attended St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, and was a memeber of the Grandview S.W. Card Club for over 40 years.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband John Melvin Simms, whom she married in 1949, and one brother, Price Lawler.
Survivors include two sisters, Patricia Glennon and Shirley Yost, both of Canton; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Cyrena Opal Simms Burleson of Massillon, Christina and Allen Fichter of Canton, Cynthia and John Munger of Canton; seven grandchildren, Brett Burleson of Columbus, OH, Lacey Fay Burleson of Massillon, A.J. and Jennifer Fichter of Canton, Shane Albert and Tammy Fichter of Canton, Chad James Fichter and Fiancee Chaunna Edgel both of Canton, Cyrena Marie and Kirk Kramer of Canton, Carrie Lynn Munger of Canton; one great-grandson Brock Allen Fichter of Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday 6 p.m. at the St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Roth officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 525 N. Main St., N. Canton, OH 44720
