Cheryl Ann Scott (Malay), age 68, passed away in her home on June 17, 2015, finally able to rest after her long illness with cancer since 2009. A parishioner of St. Mary's of Massillon, OH and St. Colman's of Turtle Creek, PA, Cheryl was a lifelong Roman Catholic. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Malay, and her in-laws, James and Lottie Scott. She is survived by her mother, Lucy Malay; her husband of nearly 48 years, Marlin Scott; their children Angela and Ron Manes, and James and Lisa (Mealback) Scott; and their grandchildren Bryonna and Nikk Manes, and Sebastian, Olivia, and Wyatt Scott; as well as many beloved cousins. She is also survived by her family of friends built over the years from card clubs, neighborhoods, and her employment at Citizens Savings/First Merit Bank.
While a humorous source of family tension at times, Cheryl brought her hometown love of the Steelers with her to Ohio. She and her husband enjoyed healthy doses of gambling and golfing in their time together and she spent hours transforming their backyard into a haven of flowers and vegetables for all to enjoy.
Cheryl's life was filled with beauty she created for her family and friends. Always one to give homemade gifts, she searched for opportunities to make everyone feel special. She took her handicrafts to the business level and enjoyed selling at craft shows and boutiques. Stark County is filled with her arts and crafts and she was always a supporter of the Jackson School for the Arts.
