Joy Brothers, 61, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. She was born in Canton on June 1, 1956 and was a graduate of Perry High School. Joy enjoyed snow skiing and watching football. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bates; her mother and step-father, Mary Alice and George Rumble; her brother, Tony Bates and her sister, Dianne Dye.
She leaves her husband, Gary Brothers, whom she married in 1990; daughter Christina (David) Chiang of Avon Lake; stepdaughter Megan (Christopher) Green of Massillon; granddaughter, Lily Green of Massillon; sister Tina Hart of Venice, FL; brother James Rumble of Summerfield, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11am at the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with Pastor David Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mechanicstown. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-7pm and prior to the service from 10-11am on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with Joy's medical expenses.
