After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Raymond L. Freetage was called home by our Lord in the early morning of April 20. He was born on April 11, 1943 in Sebring, Ohio to James and Caroline (Regula) Freetage.
Raymond graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. He attended Kent State University and became an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration until retirement in 1997. He then became an ordained minister and served as minister at the Spearsville Church of Christ until 2005.
Raymond lived in Ellettsville, Indiana for 36 years before returning to Ohio in 2010. He served on the school board, town council, and was active in the Ellettsville Exchange Club. Raymond was an active member at Ellettsville Christian Church serving as elder, deacon, teacher, and financial treasurer.
Raymond married Beverly Brown on May 21, 1966. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children Dana (Hank) Hewetson, Stacy (Michael) Bradley and David (Jodie) Freetage; grandchildren: Logan, Lydia, Owen, and Eric. In addition, he is survived by siblings Jim (Sandy) Freetage, Valerie Hammersley, Rosann (Dick) Graham, Rodney (Marta) Freetage, and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Freetage, and sister, Corita Childs.
Calling hours are Sunday, April 23, from 3:00pm-5:00pm with the funeral following at 5:00pm at Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW North Canton, Ohio 44720. Burial will be Monday at 10:30am in Augusta Cemetery, 8475 Andora Rd. Augusta, Ohio 44607.
