Supporting the Greater Canton Community is not only an honor… it's an ongoing commitment.
In 1946, Cledus T. Reed, father of Dennis Reed, began a family tradition. He established a funeral home and dedicated himself to serving the public with caring personal service. This commitment to family and service has earned the trust of thousands of local families in Stark County.
Today, the Reed Funeral Home maintains this tradition, as it continues to honor that commitment by providing families with the same thoughtful, sensitive and honest service. It is an honor to support public events, which are a service to the community.
The Family Support Services of Reed Funeral Home offers both educational and group support programs, which are open to the entire community. Each November, we present a grief program, COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS and each April, we sponsor A CANDLELIGHT SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE, a non-denominational worship experience of hope. At the core of family services, we offer to the community a program of Grief Support Groups. This program is open to everyone, and there is no charge.
The Reed Musicale is on WHBC AM 1480 every Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. This is an inspirational program of comforting music, which has been featured on WHBC since 1961. Hosted by Tom Morrison, of our staff, the program features a hymn dedicated to the honor and memory of the loved ones who have passed away during the previous week. Each name is read in a special way as we honor their memory.
The Reed Funeral Home is known for its 1894 Sayers & Scovill Horse Drawn Hearse. The hearse is used in many community celebrations, such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Festival Grand Parade, the Stark County Fair as well as actual funeral processions.
